Loteria Find of the Week: LA LOTERIA, LA PELICULA

PLEASE, please, please click on the title of this post to watch an awesome trailer for director Alfredo Galindo Gomez's movie: "La Loteria... La Pelicula".  It's maybe 5 years old but it's new to me.

The movie is based on characters in a loteria deck.  The hero, El Valiente, stumbles upon Mayan artifacts

in the mysterious Zone of Silence in Durango, Mexico. Why is it mysterious? Because of ancient meteoric activity, radio waves and magnets go nuts there, of course.  Our hero falls in love with La Sirena.  An ambitious couple, La Dama and El Catrin, try to thwart him. And he must be wary at all times of the corrupt general, La Bota, that has it in for him.  Throw in El Apache, El Musico and El Negrito and you have quite a movie! No, it doesn't seem to be available on Netflix.  If anyone has a DVD of it, please let us know!

Loteria Find of the Week: MAKE YOUR OWN!

Here is a software program that you can use to create and print out your own custom set of loteria cards and game boards.  It's a Windows program and I'm on a Mac so I can't tell you first hand, but it seems very cool. There's a photo editing program for you to select your own photos and play around with type and borders.   You can also generate hundreds of different combos using their art.

Click on the title above to get a link to its listing on Amazon.  It sells for about $40.

If anyone has used this please leave a comment and tell us if it's a thumbs up or down.
